I teach 6th grade in Title 1 middle school in McAllen Texas. McAllen is a border town in South Texas. I teach at a campus where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Some of these students will never leave the Valley, not even on vacation. Some of these students will not experience life's events, past or present, unless it is read through a book. I want for my students to be able to experience everything life has to offer. The best way for me to do this is by exposing them to literature that gives them these experiences.
