This year will be the first year that my school district will offer a Dual Language Immersion program. My students will be the first 1st Grade cohort that will receive 90% instruction in Spanish and 10% in English. By the time they are in 5th and 6th grade, they will be fully bilingual in both languages! I am new to first grade and by donating to my project, you will be contributing to building up a primary grade Dual Language Immersion Spanish-language library and classroom. Quality materials for dual language immersion classrooms are difficult to come by. I have had to buy and bring back materials from foreign Spanish-speaking countries. I have also had to spend countless hours translating materials back and forth between languages. If I were to have these materials, this would save countless hours that would then be put forth into developing meaningful curriculum that will ensure that my students will get the highest quality DLI education in their primary years.
