I am a Resource Specialist at a 6-12 school. My students range in their academic abilities and the types of disabilities they have. Daily they struggle with the challenges of being a special education student and feeling frustrated with being at school. They live in an area where daily they are confronted with the challenges of poverty and gang violence. Most of my students rarely leave their neighborhood and have not been exposed to much of what the rest of the world has to offer; however, despite these challenges my students are regular kids who just want to be interested at school and succeed and do well in their futures.
