It's the middle of the school year and our classroom supplies need to be replenished. Students received headphones at the beginning of the year, but almost all of them have gone missing or have broken. We spend a portion of each school day doing online math and reading lessons. My students would be so happy to have new headphones to help them focus and hear the sounds in the lessons.
Along with those, our classroom art supplies are dwindling. My students love to draw and create, but we do not have enough materials for each of them to use. I would love to be able to refresh our supply of markers, colored pencils, and crayons so they can happily make, instead of sadly closing the drawers.
Our paper products are diminishing at a rapid rate, due to Covid and also winter illnesses. It feels like I am bringing out new Kleenex boxes every day. Our portable does not have a sink, so kids have to run inside the school to grab paper towels to clean up spills. It would be amazing to have a supply in our room to clean those quickly.
A few of the items on my list are to add a little bit more joy to our classroom. My students love getting these rewards and they are more motivated to show good behavior when they know these are in the treasure box. My students have been through a lot in the past two years and I know that even small things, like stickers and fun pencils, can brighten their day.
