I work with are deaf/hard of hearing and have hearing aids or cochlear implants as well as students on the autism spectrum. Many of them are also second language learners. They are mainstreamed into classrooms with their peers for about half of their day. Because of the speech and language delays a multisensory toolbox is critical and videos and music are high interest for language development. My kids are of varying ages and skill levels, some are learning speech sounds at phoneme level, others are working on the nuances of the english language. I incorporate signs, LOTS OF pictures and manipulatives to help them learn language concepts.
