This is a class of energetic kindergarten through fifth grade age hearing impaired students. I use total communication with them (signing and voicing together) They are in a functional skills setting, meaning that the goal is to help each child reach his/her greatest potential for learning and becoming as independent as possible. They present different levels of involvement other than hearing impairment; e.g. non-ambulatory or cognitive delays. Through real life and hands on experiences, they realize the world around them, grow in their language and abilities, and recognize themselves as valuable contributors.

About my class
