Every morning we are going to start the day with a morning meeting and a morning message. A carpet, an easel, flip chart paper and flip chart pens are essential tools for the classroom. They will be part of our morning routines and will be put in our whole group area of our classroom. The carpet provides a cozy place for each student to sit and practice personal space. The easel will hold our morning message everyday. A morning message is a daily written letter on flip chart paper to the children that explains what we are going to do for the day, asks a question of the day to get the kids thinking, and will include some spelling and grammar errors for the children to fix with the flip chart pens. The question of the day could be how to solve a social problem that might be occurring at the school or creating a class graph to analyze during math. The carpet, easel, flip chart paper and markers will allow my students to learn together, cooperate together, think together and help develop a sense of community. Please help my students start the new school year in a classroom where every child is valued, has a voice, is a self-manager, is respected and welcomed. A classroom that is a community of learners who love coming to school each and everyday! Having an easel, flip chart paper and pens will help meet the needs of every child in my class so that they can reach their full potential.
