In recent years there has been a push to include STEAM education in schools. Studies have shown that students from the U.S. are falling behind in STEAM related careers when compared to other countries; in an effort to remedy this problem librarians across the country have implemented Makerspaces, these spaces are used to encourage skills related to STEAM career fields such as, problem-solving, innovation, creativity, and how to work both collaboratively and independently. This project will be the first step in the development of my school’s Makerspace, the students will have the opportunity to learn by “making,” which will bring excitement and enjoyment to the library. I cannot wait to see the amazing projects that are going to be created with these materials! Thank you!
