I am a proud first grade teacher at Earle Brown Elementary in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. I love love my students! They are so excited to learn and curious about the world around them. One of their favorite things in the classroom is books! They find such joy in looking at books, talking about books and reading books. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, ethnic cultures and experiences. My philosophy in teaching is to provide students with opportunities that connect their learning with who they are as people! One amazing way to do this is with books. I want to fill my classroom library with culturally responsive literature that tells the stories of my students. By doing this, reading is motivating, authentic and personal. Just think of how you feel when you pick up a good book and it connects with you in a personal way..you don't want to put it down!!
