My students need flexible seating materials such as wobble seats, balance balls and wobble cushions to promote an environment of learning that is conducive and effective for their individual learning needs. These pieces will be strategically placed throughout the classroom to provide students with a choice of where to sit, promoting independent choice-making as well as self-awareness to the needs of their learning as well as personal needs. Flexible seating choices will give the students a sense of comfort in the 2nd grade classroom, reducing the stress of learning and hopefully providing a sense of safety to ensure absolute success! When you look inside my classroom it is my hope that you see early-childhood learners that are thriving and working to their ultimate potential. I hope that you see children that have been given the space that they need to work, through the many choices of flexible seating throughout the room. I want the children to have the chance to make positive choices regarding their learning environment in effort that they may roll those positive choices into other decisions they make throughout their lives. I believe flexible seating will be a great addition to my classroom giving students a sense of peace, the chance to be in control of their learning experiences, and to feel comfortable while overcoming any challenges they may face.
