A large computer monitor will benefit my class in so many different ways. Most importantly, a large computer monitor will help my students to become better communicators. With a large computer monitor, the students can give group presentations, attend virtual field trips, receive small group instruction, and monitor their behavior. Student can effectively share their writing and solicit feedback from peers, present group projects such as powerpoints, and show solutions to math problems. I would also love to have this large monitor so that my students can do collaborative activities such as taking a virtual field trip to the Egyptian pyramids or ancient China. It would be an amazing tool to use for small groups of students who needs a brief tutorial, such as a refresher on prime numbers or what is a compound sentence. There is only one teacher in the classroom, but with the use of technology I could use video support to assist those who need targeted practice at a specific skill. Finally, it would be an excellent classroom management tool. I use an app called Class Dojo that keeps parents informed of our daily activities as well as discipline in real time. I post pictures of special events, major accomplishments, small victories, funny moments. The app also allows me to awards points for desired behaviors, all of which parents can access in real time. Students are always asking to see the pictures that I have taken and also to see how many points they have earned. What a great way to encourage positive behaviors by having a real time "scoreboard!"
