Establishing a love for reading begins at a young age; in order for that love to develop, kids need to have access to a wide range of literature. I am requesting more leveled reading books, different genre books, word work material, and writing journals that will buff up our Daily 5 Reading Centers! These materials will help to get students organized, excited, and exposed to different books, writings, and foundational language skills needed to decode texts. How can they truly engage with literature and writing if there aren't any materials for students to use? By having their own writing journals, students will be able to see their progression of writing from the beginning of the year all the way until the end of the year. Also, the hands-on phonics manipulative will help students who are still struggling with certain spelling patterns so that they are able to spell their words in developmentally appropriate ways.
