Some of my students show up to school on the first day with backpacks full of fresh new supplies. However, with around 60% of our school population on free and reduced lunches, more and more students show up on the first day with little or no supplies. Our school has also asked us to streamline our supply list, to make it more affordable for families. This supply list will ensure that students will have the supplies they need to start the year off right! Many of the items on the supply list are multicultural. In the past, many of my students would say, "I need a colored pencil color that matches me!" when coloring a picture of their family. We would all scramble around and look for one, but it ended up being a generic color. So I am requesting multicultural construction paper, markers, colored pencils and crayons for classroom projects. I have asked for a few items that we will inevitably run out of: markers, colored pencils and pencils! In addition, I am requesting a pencil sharpener to keep everyone happy! Also, I am seeking a few items that will help my students stay organized throughout the year. These include: binder dividers (tabs), hanging file folders, and pencil pouches. Lastly, I am requesting a few items for my use. Colored card stock, packaging tape, dry erase markers and file folders.
