Can you imagine being in a book club where there was only one book and someone just read the book to you? As adults, we need to have our own book to truly comprehend and engage with the text. Our students feel the same way! The class sets of Love that Dog and The Tiger Rising will be a few of our anchor texts. We will read them together as a class, but this will not be your typical read aloud. We will analyze the text as readers, thinkers, and writers. If each student has a copy of the text, they will have the opportunity to keep track of their thinking, read in small groups, and truly interact with the text. The other books written by Chris Van Allsburg will be used as part of an author study throughout the school year. All of these books will be read, enjoyed, and used often! They will serve as models for us!
