I'd like to give my third graders the opportunity to read exciting chapter books that they do not want to put down! My school is opening up a brand new third grade class, and with any new class, we will be starting out with just the bare minimum amount of books for our classroom. I want the children to have book choices to take home and read in class that they find exciting, fun, and that they can connect to. With books that come in a series, the children will be excited to not only read one book but they will want to dive into book after book after book to see what comes next. These books appeal to young children in a special way. With titles like Galaxy Zack and Ricky Ricotta, children will escape to a world of outer space, saving the world from evil villains while learning about important literary elements at the same time. Titles such as Heidi Hecklebeck will teach children to understand great character development as well.
