While my students have a truly profound range of Spanish proficiency, this project focuses on obtaining materials to teach my students how to read in Spanish at the most fundamental level. For example, I am requesting materials to help me teach Spanish phonics as well as some early readers. In addition, I am requesting a variety of fiction books, especially graphic novels, to add to our free-choice reading library for silent reading. Research shows that reading is one of the most powerful ways to improve grammatical accuracy as well as to expand vocabulary. For this reason, I must find ways to help my students learn to enjoy reading in Spanish if they don't already.
