We have opened a new middle school this year. My students will be experiencing math in a STEMM environment for the first time. To make these lessons memorable and a hit, we need some supplies and we are hoping that you can help us to light the fire for learning in our classroom. We are planning to partake in many journeys and experiences this year as we discover not only the world around us, but also how math relates to that world and to us. We are in need of rulers, protractors, and geoboards for several lessons that we will be doing to discover the meaning of congruence, similar figures, geometric shapes, and the pythagorean theorem. We will be partaking in several hands on activities over the course of two months to learn about congruence, determine whether two shapes are congruent, discover similarity among shapes especially triangles, and learn about pythagorean theorem and how it is used in the world around us. To make these lessons possible the students will need rulers and protractors to measure angles and side lengths, and to take measurments out in the field. They will need geoboards to discover similarities among congruent figures and to have a hands on experience proving the pythagoreab theorem. You can make that possible for us during our transitional year from middle school to high school!
