Implementing Responsive Classroom practices provides students with a sense of belonging and a place to establish trust. Engaging in morning meeting sets the tone for the day and allows students to know they are in a safe place. Morning meetings are a place to gather as a classroom community to share and learn. The students look forward to gathering on the carpet for meetings and mini lessons. The classroom provides students with a safe and stable environment that fosters education. The classroom does not currently have a carpet for the students to gather. Sitting on the carpet as a group encourages collaboration and empathy. Furthermore, something as simple as a classroom carpet supports social, emotional, and academic learning in young minds.
