"We shouldn't teach great books, we should teach a love of reading." - B.F. Skinner Through this project I hope to provide my students with a diverse classroom library that offers them quality literature in which they are allowed to take home. Reading is a huge passion of mine and I often feel that my children have wonderful exposure to quality literature at school but this not often reciprocated at home. By creating this classroom library it will provide my students the opportunity to take home quality literature each week and share these materials and experiences with their families. My Children will not only be able to take home wonderful book each week but th ey will be able to take what they have learned within my classroom and they will also be Children will get to choose a book of their choice and take it home via a canvas tote bag. Parents will be encouraged to allow their child to explore the book with their guidance, read the book to their child multiple times throughout the week, promote critical thinking skills by asking questions about the book well as expand their vocabulary. By providing my children with this opportunity I will be able to work with the parents of my children to expand the importance of reading and literacy beyond my classroom into their homes. Please help me foster the love of reading in my children by making the world a better place, one book at a time.
