I have the absolute privilege of teaching a wonderful group of young English Language Learners who are just beginning their educational journeys. Every day, my students walk through the door full of curiosity, energy, and a deep desire to learn. They represent diverse backgrounds and bring a rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and unique perspectives to our school community. Learning foundational academic skills while simultaneously mastering a brand-new language is no small feat. It requires incredible resilience and a lot of courage. Because practicing a new language can feel intimidating, my mission is to design a space that feels less like a traditional schoolroom and more like a warm, supportive home. When students feel comfortable, their confidence grows, and they are much more willing to take the risks necessary to develop their English speaking and listening skills.
