After state standardized testing, I teach a unit based around Hidden Figures. We do a variety of activities including reading part or all of the Young Readers Edition, completing projects, and watching the movie. Each student completes a short essay on their area of research and they share out with the class. I would love to be able to have a copy of the book for each student in my class so that we could read the book together! The powerful connection between the story of these women at NASA and careers in STEM is a great culminating unit for 8th-grade math.
