Early literacy is vital to future learning for children! Successful reading habits have proven to strengthen children's learning in areas of language, communication, thought, and reasoning. By developing an outdoor space where children can come explore language and literacy in a fun, soothing environment. We will provide them the basic tools to help learn reading can be fun. We carefully selected items that represent the children and their families of Head Start. We use Creative Curriculum, which teaches us to follow children and their interests. We will provide many books with many topics and interest areas. A Creative Literacy Station in an outdoor environment furnishes opportunities for preschool children to investigate possibilities. Offering the children a privacy nook and a variety of books provides a cozy place where children can enjoy reading not just inside the class, but outdoors as well. We have added literacy games and toys to the outdoor Literacy Station as well. Items where children can explore numbers, letters, and early literacy skills can be focused on throughout their day while at preschool. Studies show children who are living in stress put up learning barriers. They cannot learn if they are worried about situations that they have been put in. Building a Creative Literacy Station gives the children, families, and teachers a place where playing is learning.
