The materials I am requesting are books in a genre that my students love to read. I want to rekindle this love of reading for all of my students. This particular genre of book is exciting to Third and Fourth graders. They will read independently to reach their individual AR goal. The books are perfect for this age group and are about subjects they are interested in. Once a student learns to read their whole life changes. They can move mountains and go anywhere with the skill of reading. By having these books in my room, the students will become the leaders of our community because they know they can do anything they put their mind too. Having a large selection of Captain Underpants books will empower my students because they enjoy this series. They feel that their choices are important, that what they choose is relevant. The students will be able to read these books over and over by having them close at hand in our class library. Also, by having the books in English and Spanish, our ELL students will have more options as well. Embracing diversity is key, and we can begin by building the love of reading.
