As an IEP friendly classroom my students need many opportunities to explore the curriculum using concrete tools. This year our classroom will be focusing on more hands on learning in our mathematic instruction. The calendar math program will be used to engage the students in number talks and counting activities each day. The various manipulatives such as the foam dice, dominos, and geometric shapes, will be used by the students to participate in interactive mathematic learning games and centers. Literacy is also a focus in our classroom and guided reading is the practice we implement. By also providing my students with alternate seating for reading time by having soft seats will engage them in their literacy education. The students will also use phonics games to develop and build their reading skills. This project will have a significant positive impact on my students by allowing them the tools to explore and master their learning.
