The books in this project will benefit my students in their reading, writing, and social studies learning. Our school has a Language Arts program that includes a textbook that has short stories for them to read. In my experience however, an actual book in their hand that they can take home and read independent from the "textbook" is most effective in building that love for reading. The books I have chosen also focuses heavily on diverse characters. Characters whose experiences reflect perseverance, adversity, and triumph will engage my class with deep reflection and discussion. Through collaborative conversations and writing, my students will be inspired to create goals for their future.
