I teach second graders, most of who come from low-income families. My students are energetic, motivated to learn, and desire to be successful. In my classroom, students like to read to each other (books checked out from the school library or books from my classroom library). Student leaders inspire other students to work on writing as they share their written work by reading it aloud. Communication in my classroom is key to seeing students succeed. As I communicate with my students and their families, students show motivation to do their best work and make significant progress.
