Imagine a bright and cozy carpet to read your favorite book upon, work with a friend or sit upon during a whole group lesson...that is my goal for this project. The Hug a Planet carpet will help make this a more cozy reality in my classroom. The library and learning space is the favorite and most popular place in the classroom. It is where my students choose to read books to themselves or with others, play educational games, work on projects or use manipulatives for learning. It is also a place where the majority of our whole group learning occurs and where we begin each day as we build a caring and respectful classroom community. The main reason this particular carpet was chosen was because of its vivid colors and the image of children all over the world holding hands in unity. Respecting each other and our planet is a major theme in my classroom and our school. This carpet will remind the students of this message on a daily basis. Your donation will help the students have a more vibrant place for learning and will help make our library and classroom space more inviting, cheerful and amazing. It will be used for years to come and help serve as a reminder of the importance of both the classroom and the global community.
