I believe in the learning power of movement. Alternative seating provides movement in the classroom and has proven benefits. Students who are permitted to move in the classroom have higher academic performance, improved participation and better behavior, less restlessness, better attention and focus, and improved core strength and posture. Support me in supporting our littlest learners. More specifically, my classroom will be home to students with autism. Their sensory and learning needs are not met by sitting in a rigid chair all day. Wobbling, wiggling, spinning, and movement are not distractors for these students, rather this movement ensures that learning is occurring.
