Hi! I'm about to begin my first year of my teaching career and I have been trying desperately all summer to collect books for my classroom library, but at this point it is looking very slim. Having an in-classroom library is so important, not only to promote an environment of book love but is also useful in that it allows students to browse books right where I can confer with them and assist them in making good choices for themselves. I selected 20 books that cover a wide variety of interests and reading levels that are wonderful stories the kids will love, all of which I have read myself, so I can promote them to the kids and share my love of reading with them. Edutopia calls the classroom library "the heartbeat of a teacher's environment," and my classroom is in great need of a jumpstart!
