The use of STEAM centers and materials is a wonderful motivator in the classroom to increase academic achievement through science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics integration. During our math and science center period in the afternoon, the use of Legos, Light Tables, and light table manipulatives would be used daily for task projects related to our weekly ELA units as well as math and science curriculum. Students would have daily opportunities to explore STEAM bins with task cards for back to school, U.S. Landmarks and Holidays, International Landmarks, 3D shapes, seasons, and more. Each week will have a consistent routine in which students will have a different task on each day of the week. In weekday sequential order, students will: Free invent, use task cards only, use quick writes, complete teacher specific challenge, and finally engineer with a partner or small group. By donating to our project, you will help students to apply their knowledge through solving problems with specific constraints; applying structures to real world designs; examine multiple perspectives in visual arts; construct a variety of two dimensional shapes, three dimensional shapes, lines, and angles using basic geometry; and to think divergently, inventively, and imaginatively! Students will be able to focus on rigorous content in the classroom in a fun and engaging way and have full access to materials on a daily basis to increase their academic achievement and much desired 21st century skills. With your help, we can ensure that each of these students has the opportunity and access to the best education and materials that they so greatly deserve!! Thank you for your consideration to our project.
