My classroom is culturally diverse with a high population of Hispanic and Pacific Islander students. With the challenges faced in learning a second language my students are some of the hardest working youth I know. Due to the fact that parents are also faced with language barriers and a background that values work over education, students are not able to receive much help away from the school setting. With that being said, my students come to class everyday prepared to work hard for what they want, knowing they have an educator who provides the resources they need to be successful. Students use multiple strategies and tools to expand their knowledge in order to be successful readers.
