Where do you like to curl up with a good book, or work on your laptop when you take work home from the office? Do you like to sit in a desk, or kick your legs up on your couch in front of your TV? Whatever your preference is, you have the freedom to choose the most comfortable, stress relieving option to suit your needs. To give my students flexible seating choices I'm requesting a variety of seating options including a rug, plastic stack stools, folder lap desks, Wobble Cushions, stadium seats, and Balance Balls. Much research shows that students should be afforded the same opportunities for flexible seating in the classroom. Whether they choose to to sit on a carpet with a comfy pillow and a lap desk, or in traditional desks, student choice and autonomy in the classroom increases a love for learning, and a sense of ownership and responsibility over their own education.
