I would like my young readers to have access to a leveled library. In first grade, most students are going from reading short sentences to reading entire books. One key strategy that works to build strong readers is having students read books that are at their reading level and books that they are interested in. Students will use these books everyday! They will use the books during silent reading time, center time, and free reading time. With these leveled libraries students will be able to pick fiction or non-fiction books they are interested in that are at their level. Leveled libraries will help support my students as they make tremendous reading and writing progress throughout this year.
