Students who miss school due to sickness (brought upon by Covid-19, colds, flu, and allergies) miss precious instruction time. Kindergarten is the first school experience for many of my students. It lays the foundation for all of their future learning. As such, it is imperative that students are in the classroom to ensure their success. On "normal" years, I have students who miss days of instruction due to colds and flus. Due to Covid-19, I have seen students miss weeks at a time. Every year, I work hard to create a safe, calming, and welcoming classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Over the years, I have purchased countless tubs of Lysol wipes and sanitizing sprays and have wiped and cleaned surfaces every day. I did this in an attempt to stop the spread of any viruses or colds that could infect my young students and cause school absences, which could negatively impact their education. After witnessing the impacts of Covid-19, I know that I need to take more of a stand to create the SAFEST environment possible for my sweet kindergarteners. This Molekule air purifier removes viruses (including flu and Coronavirus strains) and allergens from our classroom air that could make my students sick and unable to attend school. This device will help ensure that my students stay healthy and able to attend school, which will help them achieve academic success. Fluorescent light covers and a small aquarium will create a calming environment. The book "The Choices I Make" will help add to my book healthy choices book collection. All of these items will help support our the teaching of two important health standards 1.PCE.K.1 and 1.PCE.K.2 (Identifying a variety of healthy practices and behaviors to to improve personal, community and environmental health and defining pathogens).
