Students in my self-contained special education classroom would benefit from education, training and opportunities to use technology on a 1:1 basis each day. Technology, namely Chromebooks, provide an opportunity for students to access curriculum in a non-traditional way. We are requesting eight Chromebooks. Students will have the opportunity to complete daily research and practice appropriate internet etiquette in the safety of the classroom. Research supports that students provided with special education services thrive in environments that provide them with hands-on, problem solving opportunities. The students in the self-contained classroom will be provided with the opportunity and access to daily STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) activities. Research has proven that STEM activities are highly motivating to students with special needs. Chromebooks will provide an opportunity for the students in my self-contained classroom to engage in highly motivating activities as well as have access to additional technology that supports their needs.
