The materials would make sure that every student in the class has access to supplies to create and show their understanding in a visual way. Many students do start the year with crayons and glue, but slowly crayons break and glue sticks are used up. Within a few weeks, the supplies I have bought are gone or I'm making a store run for more and more supplies! It would make a tremendous difference by having extra supplies on hand. The pencils, crayons, markers, and glue will allow us to complete daily independent and group work, and to apply learning to create and manage our day-to-day activities in an orderly manner. Through teamwork and collaborative projects using these materials, we can make our learning concrete! For those students who are visual learners, activities using materials allows them to really shine! Although they may not feel like the strongest reader, they may be a great artist! My goal is to allow every student in my room to shine and have confidence. I want them to build on their areas of need as well as strengths. These art materials are just one of the many ways in which I plan to do so.
