The Kindle Fire can be used as a tablet computer. Students can use the Kindles to research, create, and record collaborative projects in math, science, and social studies, and to access new learning with online programs. I will use them extensively during our language arts program; where students can learn phonics, reading skills, and hear books read to them! Kindle Fires are relatively inexpensive. For 21st century becoming technologically competent will be a very important tool. I want to help close the gap and put the tools they'll need in their hands. Fire tablets allow for individualized learning. Teachers can use apps to pre-teach, teach, evaluate and reteach. Students can research, collaborate, and create unique projects while developing reasoning, communication, and problem solving skills. Students can be given greater freedom in their learning. When children are given choices in their own learning, they experience a sense of empowerment and perform better academically.
