I chose this list of comprehensive novels because many of them are from similar authors, have similar stories, or are part of a series. This will benefit students because it will get students to want to continue to read to find out the rest of the story. Students who choose to read on their own time, outside of class are more likely to read if they can identify with the stories. While we all love classics such as Of Mice and Men, students in the 21st century sometimes disengage with the classics because they don't see themselves portrayed in the stories. This list of novels comprises Latino, African-American, as well as Middle Eastern voices for students to be able to see diversity, and see themselves in the reading.
