Learning to code will help prepare my students for the world we live in today and for the changing world of tomorrow. In the future a much larger percentage of students will be exposed to careers that involve coding. It is imperative that these young students be afforded the opportunity to attain the needed skills to meet the challenges of our ever changing technological society. I hope to develop a way to help my students learn problem solving techniques through coding. By using the Ozobot Robot the students will learn about robotics and coding in a social and interactive way. Pairs of students will be able to work together to program the robot using colors. They will learn to solve problems and make something work through trial and error. They will be able to create imaginative ways to program the robot by creating tracks, mazes and playgrounds on paper. Coding is not just a skill but is another way to think about problem solving. As technology expands reading and writing code will become a very important skill. Students at the very early primary level have an easier time learning to code as it is like learning a language when one is young. By donating to our project you will not only help my students develop important coding and problem solving skills but will ultimately help increase their academic achievement.
