Providing these materials to the students in Mr. Christmas' 1st grade classroom will set them up for success. My students come from various socio economic background and can't afford the necessary materials to be set up for success. Additionally, I am a first year teacher and as you know materials are essential for success. The materials that are requested are manipulatives that will enhance student learning through exploration. With this being said, students will be able to meet state standards while providing 21st century learning, connecting to real-world real life experiences. Students are then challenged to use the manipulatives in creative ways.
