We were recently informed that we will not have Art class at our school next year. The students are very disappointed as it was one of their favorite specials classes at school. Since I feel art is an important part of a child's growth and development I have volunteered to start an after school art club. Since this is strictly volunteer, there is no budget. I would like to be able to do some cool, hands-on projects throughout the year that require more than just pencils and paper! So, I have chosen a couple of projects and some materials that can be used for multiple projects. I would like them to be able to work with a variety of materials so I have requested canvases, brushes, easels, and acrylic paints for painting techniques, birdhouse kits for woodworking, and origami paper and card stock for paper crafting. I also plan to use recycled materials as well.
