Over the years, my students' interest in reading has declined. I want to help get my kids excited about reading again! Graphic novels are a great way to help kids find their interest and show them that reading can be fun! I want students to know what it feels like to be pulled into what they are reading. I want students to keep reading because they want to find out what happens next. I want students to read because they want to, not because they have to. My son has always hated reading and never wanted to pick up a book. Last year, he started reading graphic novels, and that's all it took; he was hooked! He would bring home a book every night so he could read at home. Eventually, he wasn't just reading graphic novels; he was reading other genres, as well! I have seen personally how graphic novels can jumpstart a kid's desire to read and learn, and I want to pass that on to my students.
