This STEM project will provide my students with hands-on experience with real-world connections. The rain gauge will allow the students to see how much rain water falls, per rainy day. They will be able to estimate how much water can be collected over a given period of rainy days and then compare their findings with their estimation. They will be able to see how the collected rain in the rain barrels will be used in our school garden. Students will be active participants in measuring the rain collected and using the rain collected in our own school garden. This STEM experience will broaden their perspective of water conservation while seeing it in action. This water conservation project will provide them with an experience that will open their minds to being conscientious of water usage and conservation, while applying Math, Science, and Writing skills.
