Learning about theory in art is important. However, to be inspired you also have to discover art history and culture. In school, sometimes we feel the need to bombard our students with non-fiction to prepare them for real life 'boring' reading. Scholastic Art achieves this non-fiction goal while still maintaining student engagement through high interest, fun articles. Reading about and seeing work from famous artists can drive students to try harder and make an effort, even when feeling discouraged. The Scholastic subscription will give my students access to articles and activities designed to boost creativity and confidence in the visual arts.
