My students are from low-income households, with varying levels of parent involvement. They walk into my classroom and need to feel safe and happy. Some do not have the support a typical 6 year old needs at home, so it is my job to give them skills to cope with hardships, develop social skills, and learn about kindness and respect. My classroom is a safe place to learn and grow, every single day.
