These flashlights will be used to aid students when reading during our SSR time (silent sustained reading). Classroom lights will be turned off and students will get to use the lights to read in the dark. This is a time kids will read independently or with a buddy. They LOVE the change of pace and feel like it is camping in the classroom. They understand that if they do a good job selecting just right books and staying focused during the week, they will be given the opportunity to read with the flashlights on Friday.:) I would also love to have a class weather station to help with our science unit of study.... "Air and Weather". Students learn about how to measure air temperature, humidity, pressure, and speed. It would be wonderful to have a class meteorologist who records daily weather and the class can analyze the changes throughout the week, month and year.
