My students need more options to engage in classroom activities. They are like ALL of us! We have a certain way to study, a certain manner in which we learn, and secret motivations that make concentration easier. My students are all different and need different ways to actively learn. The best way is to have a classroom with different seating... FLEXIBLE SEATING!!! I have come to learn that although I differentiate my students' teaching and learning, each group of students I encounter have at least a handful or more students that don't like to seat on our standard student chairs. They would rather stand, sit on the floor, or even in my teaching chair. It would be great to have a class set of teacher chairs with comfy pillows for each of my students, but that's just not feasible. My plan is to add bean bag chairs, wobble stools, and floor mats to our classroom so my students can feel they have options in what feels best for them to be the best learner.
