In my classroom we work in collaborative structures all day long. In order to do this we push groups of desks together to form collaborative groups. The desks are all different brands and so they are not level, no matter how hard we try to get them to be level. When kids are making posters or doing labs it is a very hard space to work with. Children are also notorious for shoving things in their desks, and poof! it's gone. With tables we can work on organizational skills before the students move on to middle school. I do hands-on activities for all subjects everyday. Having tables for the kids to sit and work at will be a much more efficient alternative to the groups of desks we've got going on now. Not to mention it will make the classroom look so much better too!
