"Do you throw better with the arm of your dominant hand or your non-dominant hand?" In order to solidify the concept of a comparative randomized experiment using matched pairs, the students will participate in an activity where they will throw a pool noodle, javelin style. They will flip a coin to decide which hand they use first; dominant or non-dominant and then throw. The distance thrown will be measured by the requested measuring wheels and recorded for both throws. These instruments will allow the students to accurately record how far they threw the pool noodles. The students will then apply the principles of statistical inference to determine if the difference in the distances is significant. This project will help my students understand the language of experiments and statistical inference. Once they have collected the data, they will run a significance test to answer the initially posed question. The students will organize their findings in written form using correct vocabulary and grammar.
