Young children learn by imagining and doing! The process of pretending builds skills in many essential developmental areas. The students in my classroom will benefit from having this kitchen/dramatic play area in so many ways. When a child engages in dramatic play they are actively experimenting with the social and emotional roles of life. Through cooperative play they learn how to take turns, share responsibility, and creatively problem solve. This dramatic play area will be re-invented into so many different things throughout the school year such as a pumpkin patch, pizzeria and much more! All the while helping my students to develop their language skills, thinking skills and nurturing their imaginations!
